About this trek

The W Trek Express is our most accessible and best-value program. In 3 hiking days you'll cover the three iconic highlights of the W route — Base of the Towers, French Valley, and Grey Glacier — with no heavy backpack. You carry only a daypack on the trail, as your gear and overnight bag travels ahead to each refuge by van.

This program is ideal if you're time-limited (a tight window between flights or a longer Patagonia trip), on a tighter budget, or simply prefer lodge-based comfort without the multi-day backpacking commitment. All meals are included, and the same high-service ChileTour experience applies — private van, guided Day 2 hike, and two nights in Garden Domes Puerto Natales at either end.

Minimum 2 persons per departure. This is also a great option for couples or small groups that want a first taste of the W before returning for a longer program in a future season.

Arrival in Puerto Natales

Transfer from Puerto Natales bus terminal or airport to Garden Domes. Welcome dinner with drinks. Trek briefing — trail distances, what's in your daypack, logistics for the next three days. Rest up for an early start tomorrow.

Base of the Towers — 18 km · 7–8 hrs

Private ChileTour van into Torres del Paine National Park. Guided trek to Mirador Base Torres with the group. The ascent of the moraine to the glacier lake beneath the three granite towers is the single most photographed moment in Patagonia. Overnight at Refugio Torre Central or Laguna Amarga Cabins.

French Valley — 20 km · 8–9 hrs

Trek west along the north shore of Lake Nordenskjöld, through Los Cuernos to Valle del Francés. Ascend to Mirador Británico — a 360° amphitheatre of granite spires and hanging glaciers. Descend to Refugio Paine Grande on Lake Pehoé for the night.

Grey Glacier — 22 km · 7 hrs

Trek north from Paine Grande along the shore to Grey Glacier viewpoints (11 km · 3.5 hrs each way). The blue ice face of the glacier is visible from the trail's end point. Return to Paine Grande and board the catamaran across Lake Pehoé to connect to the bus back to Puerto Natales. Pizza night at Garden Domes to celebrate.

Breakfast at Garden Domes. Transfer to Puerto Natales bus terminal or Punta Arenas airport. Luggage storage available until your departure time.

Garden Domes — Puerto Natales

ChileTour's own boutique hotel on the edge of Puerto Natales. Shared dome accommodation (3 bedroom or 4–6 bedroom), bar, El Brisket restaurant on site. First and last nights of the program.

Torre Central Refugio or Laguna Amarga Cabins

ChileTour private accommodation inside the park at the Torres end of the W (4-bed dormitory). Hot showers, bedding included, dinner and breakfast served.

Camping Paine Grande

Camping accommodation on the shore of Lake Pehoé, at the junction of the French Valley and Grey arms of the W. Tent pre-erected. Sleeping bag and mat provided. Camp facilities on site.
